| Leo and Max
I never thought a kitten would have such and effect on our household. Leo (our red tabby) was the first to arrive, but just like good chocolate, you can't have just one! About six weeks later we added Max (our silver tabby) to our family. It took Leo one week to decide Max was really O.K. and could stay. Since then they have become great friends and wonderful playmates. The "Boyz" are growing quickly and Leo at 7 months weighs 13.3 pounds; his "chunky monkey playmate, Max, is only 6 months and is already 15.2 pounds! No, that is not a typographical mistake. Max is HUG! Besides coloring, both kittens have completely different personalities and body types. Leo is very long and leas with the fluffiest tail I have ever seen! Max an the other hand is just as big as Leo, but he is definitely not lean and has a much larger frame, That's how they are different, now let me tell you how they are alike! Both Leo and Max love to be with you no matter what you are doing. If you are working at the kitchen counter they are laying in the floor watching to see if something is going to "drop" their way. If you open the refrigerator, they some running. They have figured out that the refrigerator always has a treat inside (chicken their all-tine favorite), butter, or whipped cream. If you don't get the door closed quickly, they just climb in and look fro themselves. Leo and Max spend lots if tune lounging in their huge cat tree, I'm glad I took your advice and bought a very sturdy one with extra large "scoopeis". Already, st 6 months, they over the sides! They love to be at the highest perch and spend hours looking out the window watching birds, squirrel, rabbits, and chipmunks. When this activity exhausts them, they take a refreshing nap! Oh, the life of a cat! When not watching wildlife, these two go through the house "discovering" new things. Max is particularly attracted to shiny items and just like a child puts everything in his mouth. We have removed buttons form decorative pillows, small springs from where, pens, quarters and even the metal door stop from behind the door! He just loves bringing you presents! Leo is much to refined to participate and just watches this activity with a look that seem to say , "some people's children!" Another favorite diversion is chasing bits of their dry food across the kitchen floor, stalking, pouncing, and devouring it like great hunters. It's the funniest thing to see and it is amazing how agile and athletic Max is at his hefty 15+ pounds! Leo loves to help you when you are using the computer. He loves to sit in front of the monitor to watch the cursor in the Internet pages and waits for you to select a link. Now that he has grown so large it's hard to see around him! Max is not into technology and looks out the window while Leo surfs the web. The only stage I am waiting for them to outgrow is the 3 a.m.. yes AM playtime in bed. It's like an alarm clock has gone off and they decide to play. So far they have no missed one day. it's not so awful that they want to play, but they want you to participate and they are hard to ignore when they run across you and bring you toys. Why is it they only want to play with noisy toys at night? I try to find them all before bed, but somehow they have one or two more stashed, just waiting to bring them out to entertain sleeping humans! The only advice I would give anyone wanting to buy a kitten form Verismo is to buy the two the first time. It will save you another trip and the week of adjustment. One kitten is a joy, but two are amazing!
