Maine Coon Cats in UK, England: Verismo Britannicus

A Winner in GCCF of the UK

UK Gr Ch Verismo Britannicus

Britannicus sets an example that should provide strong encouragement to other new English breeders.  With luck, sometimes you can do some serious winning, amazingly, even with a
$400 dollar breeder like Britannicus.

This Cameo Classic Tabby with White Maine Coon Cat, was born in the first litter at Verismo.

Verismo's very first litter of three male kittens was born in May, 1995.

Their mother, "Tosca ",
went on to earn CFA's Distinguished Merit Award.
This means Tosca has Five Grand Champion and Grand Premier offspring in CFA.
Tosca is still producing beautiful kittens at Verismo.

Sahara was the longest, tallest kitten in the litter and turned out to be the largest male by far.  He has very nice width to his tall ears at their base as well.  Sahara is a very light cameo color.

Sahara or "Mango" as he is called, is retired from breeding.
Sahara is neutered and still lives with the Mainetoons people, who provided Versimo with my very first Maine Coon Cat.

Caruso was the second largest kitten in the litter and with fabulous ear size!
He was always my favorite kitten.  His eyes are large, expressive, open, and truly balanced with his head.  Caruso is a lovely, sweet boy with a deep, rich, dark red cameo color, and yet he has a pure white undercoat.

Caruso is the boy the owner of Britannicus passed over, when her decision was made at 8 weeks of age.  That was way back in the days when everyone thought they could pick through kittens at an early age for a show cat.  Back then, everyone almost had me convinced that every really nice kitten just HAD to go into a so-called "show home" as a breeder.  So now I am going "Sure, and for my next trick I will escape from this flaming coffin while wearing a straight jacket and singing Eye Of The Tiger".

Caruso resides in a family home with a balcony, living as a pet .  So that's when I learned a new concept:  That the good cat-gods, too, are fond of a joke.  I began to notice how fate was always good to my own cats, and that got me believing that good luck can't last a lifetime, unless you die young, but good karma can.

On his first Christmas of 1995, Caruso got a wild-hare notion to  leap from the balcony down onto the top of the decorated Christmas tree.
This big male crashed all the way down through that flimsy tree busting out ornaments all the way down. Ouch!

Astounding is the word for Britannicus's winnings in the English show circuit after his arrival in England as a kitten back in 1995!  Woody Allen says seventy percent of success in life is just showing up; so that means your cat can compete or just sit on the porch of his kennel and yowl.  And if you do see the competition, just remember to always root for the winner. That way you won't be disappointed.

This boy's kitten picture sure is sweet, and isn't it cute how he grew!

Back to the front porch of the kennel, a lot of breeders keep their cats outdoors in out-houses with runs.  I once asked a breeder if she preferred grass or Astroturf and she replied "I dunno.  I never smoked any Astroturf."

Britannicus did all his showing in England, exclusively in one of the associations in England called: "GCCF" where his owner is an active member of National Cat Club.  He has won the "Champion of Champions" trophy at the National Cat Club show in London and also National Cat Club's "1997 National Cat-Of-The-Year" trophy.

I wish cat breeders and fanciers would love everybody the way the English love Britanniccus.  It would be a better world.  Congratulations to  Britannicus and his owner, Noracoon Cattery, for "setting the English countryside ablaze"!
